Product Description

Air compression is a two fold process where the pressure of air is made to rise and the volume drops. The piston technology is the most common way to get this compression done and is present in most of the compressors in the market.

The following parts are found in piston compressors:

  • Piston
  • Valve head

In most cases, the air compressor is powered by electric motors or gas but that depends on the model. The inlet and discharge valves are on one side of the machine which are shaped like metal flaps. The piston compresses after the inlet valve sucks in air and then the compressed air goes out through the discharge valve.

In some models, routing impellers are the ones which produce pressure. However, those are the ones used by machines. Most air compressors are filled with air tanks even though they have only a motor or pump. These air tanks store compressed air till its needed to be used. Compressed air then goes to supply lines which power the pneumatic tools. During all this process the motor keeps the pressure at desired consistency.

A vacuum is constantly created with the pistons back and forth movement. The retraction of the piston fills the front space with air, which is then sucked through inlets form the outside. Then that same air is compressed when the piston extends and is given strength to push through the discharge, keeping the inlet shut at the same time and then into the tank. The pressure keeps rising till the air is sent to the tank.
